Does eating fat make your body store fat?

Dietary fat does NOT make you store body fat!!

Our body stores fat when we are eating a surplus of calories. We CAN eat a moderate or high fat diet and maintain our weight/ body composition. Some people even LOSE significant amounts of body fat while on a high fat diet.

Part of the reason fat gets a bad name is that high fat foods can be easy to overeat. When fat is combined with salt, sugar, and carbohydrate in the right proportions foods can be difficult to stop eating. The big food companies have done a lot of research to make their foods taste this way so you eat more of them!

When it comes to choosing your fat sources, aim for whole food sources rather than processed ones. Things like nuts, seeds, olive oil, and  avocado are all great places to start!
